Last Friday, June 13, the time had finally come: the free open-air rave series Berlin Beats kicked off its third season . Since then, an electrifying atmosphere has been hovering over the Museumsgarten – a pulse that captures the city’s music culture like no other.
What could represent Berlin better than its legendary electro scene? People travel here from all over the world to experience nights that are almost unimaginable elsewhere – in world-famous clubs like Berghain, whose door policy is notorious, or in a host of other techno temples with a global reputation. But now that summer is warming up the city, the nightlife is shifting under the open sky. The beats move outside and Berlin dances.
What can you expect at Berlin Beats?
The last two summers attracted over 100,000 people to dance in the garden and this year even more are expected. From June 13 to August 28, practically the entire summer, the Hamburger Bahnhof will be all about the city’s electronic music scene. On twelve evenings, you can expect a special program with DJ line-ups that include international techno icons as well as exciting newcomers. Among them are established greats such as Ellen Allien (July 31) and DJ Stingray 313 (July 10), who have been shaping the scene for decades. Freddy K, a fixture in Berlin’s techno underground, and Danish DJ Courtesy, known for her trance-infused sound, are also part of the line-up.
Also on board: long-time Berghain resident Nick Höppner, who will provide the right vibes with his deep house and techno sets. You can also look forward to up-and-coming talents and fresh names from the electronic music scene – this summer will be loud, danceable and unforgettable.
In addition to the right music, your physical well-being will of course also be catered for in the museum garden: delicious street food and a wide range of drinks will be available. The exhibitions at Hamburger Bahnhof are open until 8 p.m. on every day of the event with a valid museum ticket.
